A Research Tool

Dance & movement can be used within inquiry either as a tool to find research results or as a tool that is being inquired about

In a study done in the Whittier Community School for the Arts in Minneapolis, teachers conducted research to see the effect that using dance to teach math has on a students' ability to learn the subject.

When comparing the dance/math students to the non-dance/math students they found those who learned math through dance had a higher level of motivation, higher test scores, and that the incorporation of dance made math more useable in everyday life (Werner, 2001).
